Upcoming Blackberry Phones 2014: The 'Passport' Could Be Your Next Smartphone As It's Tipped To Hit AT&T, Rogers And T-Mobile

There are a couple of upcoming Blackberry phones for 2014 and they are expected to be announced next month in an event in London.

After years of struggle in its battle against Android smartphones, it looks like Blackberry will finally end its layoffs and aim to expand again.

One reason for this new hope is the upcoming Blackberry Passport, a one of a kind smartphone that has almost a square body.

The phone is rumored to pack a 4.5-inch display with a square screen with 1440 x 1440 resolution, a quad-core CPU, a powerful Snapdragon 800 chipset, 3GB of RAM and the patented Blackberry QWERTY keyboard.

A lot of loyal Blackberry fans will certainly try to give this new smartphone a try as it tries to pair an awkward-sized screen with the company's best marketing piece, its keyboard.

But it looks like interested users won't have a difficult time finding this Blackberry phone in the US. According to a report by BGR, Crackberry reported that the upcoming BB OS-powered smartphone has already passed FCC in the US, and would arrive in AT&T and Rogers when it becomes available.

The report says that T-Mobile may also get the device though the fight between the company and Blackberry could be the only thing to keep the carrier from offering the device.

This time last year, no one imagined Blackberry to be capable of standing on its feet again. There are reports of a buyout and even a sellout of the company's different assets and patents. It was terribly close by the end of 2013 as a financial firm already offered to buy the company.

However, now CEO John Chen took over and decided to turn things around, and slowly, he is succeeding.

The Blackberry Passport is truly a one of a kind device, but would be able to stand a chance against the upcoming Android juggernaut that is the Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung?
