“Captain America 3” was the movie that Marvel assigned to take on their May 6, 2016 playdate. That became more significant because Warner Bros. issued a challenge when they moved “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” to the same playdate.

Most people thought Marvel would cave, but they stood their ground. Eventually, it was announced that “Batman V Superman” was the one who moved to an earlier, March 25 release date.

Despite that fact, the entire cast of Captain America looked unfazed at the challenge. Foremost of which is Sebastian Stan who plays The Winter Soldier.

Speaking to Access Hollywood: “All you really have to do to know the answer to that question is just look at the track record of Marvel vs. DC… ‘Green Lantern.' I’m biased. I don’t know. I’m on this side.”

Stan’s reference to the “Green Lantern” film starring Ryan Reynolds which garnered $116 million at the box office domestically and $103 million in foreign box office takings, while it took $200 million to make. Meanwhile, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” brought in $176 million domestically, and $193 million outside the U.S., according to Boxofficemojo. The production budget for that film was $140 million. It is known as one of the highly criticized super hero movies ever.

Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) was also asked about the reported box office showdown and in his typical badass manner, he said, “you know, the bar’s going higher and higher and hopefully these guys can get up there on that bar. DC’s having some issues. DC’s having a little trouble with Marvel.”
