‘Avengers 3’ Spoilers: Release Date On May 2018 Most Logical Date For 'Infinity Gauntlet' Storyline! Will ‘Thor 3’ And ‘Ms Marvel’ Films Round Out Phase Three?

Marvel Studios recently announced the release dates of their movies all the way to May 2019. The first week of May has been their flagship date, and it won't be surprising if the 'Avengers 3' would be slipped in one of those slots.

The question was whether it would be 2018 or 2019. There were some who initially thought it would be 2019 because the Avengers movies marked the end of a Phase.

2019 would not be viable because that would mean 10 films for Phase 3 (which begins with 'Ant-Man'). Following the plot for the 'Infinity Gauntlet' storyline, it is imperative that Thanos takes possession of all the Infinity Stones. It is also required that all the major players to fight a seemingly all-powerful Thanos be assembled as well.

But since Marvel follows a coherent storyline for every phase, it is unlikely for them to delay the grand Thanos confrontation beyond the Phase 3 movies.

Screenrant covered the announcements:

"May 1, 2015 - "The Avengers: Age of Ultron"
July 17, 2015 - " Ant-Man"
May 6, 2016 - "Captain America 3"
July 8, 2016 - "Doctor Strange"
May 5, 2017 - Untitled Marvel film
July 28, 2017 - "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2"
November 3, 2017 - Untitled Marvel film
May 4, 2018 - Untitled Marvel film
July 6, 2018 - Untitled Marvel film
November 2, 2018 - Untitled Marvel film
May 3, 2019 - Untitled Marvel film"

Kevin Feige also mentioned: "We haven't really talked about when we'll see Avengers 3. I presume we'd like to stick to three years between Avengers movies like we did...Oh, No, it was two years, wasn't it? What was it? Yeah, yeah. So it'd probably be three years about Avengers 2 and 3."

'Avengers' came out on May 2012 and 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' will be released on May 2015. Following the pattern, 2018 would be ideal.

"Thor 3" needs to be inserted in 2017 because the Tesseract, suspected to be the Space Gem is still in Asgard. Thanos would need some way to acquire it. "Ms. Marvel" could also be introduced, and it could be a venue to showcase Adam Warlock, who is the closest thing to being Thanos' arch enemy.
