Hugh Jackman will eventually return for "Wolverine 3" after almost quitting the role. There are still some 'unfinished business' that he needs to settle-and the sequel might be his last chance!

Jackman definitely hears it from the comic book fans, not just movie fans. And the popularity of the Deadpool character does not escape him. Despite their disappointing encounter in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" he believes it's a strong fun character. From IGN:

"We sort of took a pretty strong choice on Deadpool, where we kind of stitched him up. And I love the character of Deadpool and I think that the sort of badass, fast-talking, funny, annoying Deadpool vs Wolverine would still be cool. We've sort of done it, but I think we could have done that much better."

The Deadpool clamor is raging, especially after the leaked test footage came out. If Fox does not want to gamble on a full feature on the character yet, then having him appear in the Wolverine movie might be a safer move. Besides, it just might be their last chance. Jackman talked to Vulture, and he admitted that Wolverine's life span in the movies is not all dependent on him. While discussing possible storylines, the "Death of Wolverine" comic came up:

"I just read about that. I'm really looking forward to reading it, actually, and see what they come up with. But let's not forget, I don't know how many origin stories there are, six origins? So if there's six origins [laughs], I think it's maybe safe to say there could be more than one demise story, if you know what I mean! Wolverine has been killed before, hasn't he? But they're making a really big deal out of it. I don't know."

Indeed, Wolverine has been killed before and we probably can't count how many times it happened, but there is a very slight chance that Marvel means it this time.

"Wolverine 3" (not the official title) will be released on March 3, 2017.
