"Agents of Shield" Season 2 is coming, and we learned some pretty big casting announcents and spoilers recently.

The first season of "Agents of Shield" ended with Shield destroyed and Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and team tasked with rebuilding it.

Season 2 of the show will include players from the comic books as well as new characters specifically created for the series.

It was been reported that Lucy Lawless, star of "Xena: Warrior Princess," is joining the show. Only recently have new details about her role have been confiremed that she will be playing the role of Isabelle Hartley, a veteran agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Other new players include Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, an ally to Agent Coulson who originated in the comics, as well as and Reed Diamond as Hydra agent Daniel White.

Simon Kassianides (Quantum of Solace) has joined the cast as Bakshi, a character described as being a "confident right-hand man who's not afraid to do the dirty work," Deadline reported.

"Desperate Housewives" and "Twin Peaks" alum Kyle McLachlan has also joined the cast of S.H.I.E.L.D. He will be playing a recurring role referred to as "The Doctor." (refernce much) McLachlan's character is also Skye's (Chloe Bennet) mysterious father, who was glimpsed at the end of season one, according to TVLine.

According to TVLine, MacLachlan will be playing Skye's father. Which would certainly mean that crucial parts of her mysterious backstory are going to come to light in Season 2. It also means that the mystery man who Raina (Ruth Negga) spoke to in the Season 1 finale, saying "I found your daughter," is MacLachlan's character.

TVLine is  alsoreporting that NYPD Blue's Henry Simmons has landed a recurring role in Season 2 as Agent Alphonso "Mac" Mackenzie - a mechanic in his early 30s.

MacLachlan and Simmons join newcomers Lucy Lawless (Isabelle Hartley), Reed Diamond (Daniel Whitehall), and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter) as well as the returning Clark Gregg (Director Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Agent May), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Simmons), Iain De Caestecker (Agent Fitz), and Chloe Bennet (Skye).

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is Executive Produced by Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen ("Dollhouse," "Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"); Jeffrey Bell ("Angel," "Alias"); and Jeph Loeb ("Smallville," "Lost," "Heroes").
