Nexus 8 Release Date: 'Volantis' Named HTC T1 Will Be The Most Powerful Tablet In The Market With 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra Chip, 4GB RAM, Android L

Earlier this year, there were rumors that Google will be axing the Nexus lineup, which meant that there would not be any Nexus 8 release date awaiting fans of pure Android.

However, previous reports claimed that mobile phone maker HTC has been tapped to work on the 8-inch slate, and from the looks of it, it will arrive in the market sooner rather than later.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, new leakster @UpLeaks reported via Twitter that the Nexus 8 or otherwise known as 'Volantis' would launch with the name HTC T1.

In the report, the HTC T1 has already passed certification in Korea (the equivalent of FCC in the US), which means it would only be a matter of time for the device to hit the shelves, probably next month.

Just as previously rumored, the HTC T1 or Volantis is definitely a monster tablet. Rumored specs of the device include a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra chip, which would certainly bring processing speed to greater heights. Another oustounding specification of the device is its rumored 4GB of RAM, which would be a first in the mobile industry.

It only goes to show how high-end and top-notch this Android device would be, following last year's efforts of Asus for the Nexus 7.

Aside from the juicy specs, we still can't confirm whether HTC T1 would get an 8 or 8.9-inch display, though previous rumors point to a 8.9-inch screen with a whopping QHD or 2K (2560 x 1600) resolution.

Other alleged specs of the Android tablet include an 8-megapixel Sony-made IMX 219 sensor for the primary camera, a 1.6MP front cam, and Qualcomm's LTE modem on board.

In the report, the Nexus 8 device would come with the latest version of Google's operating system, Android L, out of the box.
