BlackBerry Q20 Release Date: BB Classic Eyes To Bring Company Back On The Map; Smartphone Targets To Challenge Apple This 2014

BlackBerry Q20 release date: There is no stopping the release of BlackBerry’s upcoming flagship model—the BB Q20, or better known as the BB Classic. However, there is still no exact date when the handset will be released. All we know is that “the new smartphone will be available in the second half of 2014,” according to the Canadian mobile manufacturer.

It is no news that the company is struggling to keep its head above water since the dawn of mobile giants Samsung and Apple. Hence, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said in an interview with USA Today that they plan to win over the market through the right combination of touchscreen and QWERTY interfaces.

"There's a new product called the BlackBerry Classic that's coming out. It's an updated and enhanced version of one of our most popular and successful products called the Bold. It will include a keyboard and a good touch-screen, very fast Internet, Web-browsing capability and multimedia capability. But also it will be very productive and very secure," he said.

Chen added, "So, all the familiar things that people love, with some new technology updated. That will come out in November along with the server that helps companies manage devices. Not only the BlackBerry device, but every device, the iPhone and androids and Windows and everything else. So, the new products will have a lot to do with the architecture.”

The Classic is said to have a TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 582 ppi. Meanwhile, its overall design is inspired by the Bold series’ classic and elegant finish.

The company also eyes to improve its operating system with the new BlackBerry 10.3. In fact, The Amazon App store announced last June of its tie-up with BlackBerry. If things push through, the Q20 will be able to boast more than 240,000 Android applications such as Netflix, Pinterest, and Minecraft to be available for BB users.
