Acer Aspire Switch 10 review: Specs Of Windows Hybrid Incl. 10.1” Display, Atom Quad-Core Processor, 2 GB RAM, Up To 64 GB Memory; Average Gear At Rock-Bottom Price

Acer Aspire Switch 10 review: Powered by an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core Bay Trail Processor that clocks at 1.33 GHz, the Aspire Switch 10 features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen, 2 GB RAM, 32 or 64 GB of internal memory, Windows 8.1 OS, and a detachable keyboard dock—not the sharpest tool in the shed, but certainly one of the cheapest.

With a measurement of 10.3 x 7 x 0.35 inches and a weight of 1.3 pounds, the Acer hybrid sports an aluminium back and a plastic front and keyboard that still has a metallic feel. In spite of its price (retails for as low as $379), the Switch 10 gives a premium and stylish finish, certainly looking more than its worth.

Its 10.1-inch display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and a pixel density of 155 ppi. Providing multiple viewing angles, a bright display, and front-facing speakers, the Switch 10 is definitely not bad for watching movies and viewing other files.

When it comes to processors, the Acer Aspire Switch 10 is similar to the Asus Transformer Book T100. Its price is also low probably because of its Intel Atom chipset, which is quite cheap and common in the market for smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and desktops. The good news is that because of its “Bay Trail” chips, the Switch 10 performs well with low power consumption.

CNET reviewed the tablet-laptop, saying: “The Acer Aspire Switch 10 is a budget hybrid that skips the more-common fold-back or button-clasp hinges and instead attaches its screen via a magnetic connection. It shares the same hardware limitations as other small hybrids, but can be easier to use.”

Although it sports a slightly slower processor, less RAM, and smaller hard drive than other small-screen laptop-tablet hybrids, the Acer Aspire Switch 10 is still a budget-friendly choice for those who are not after sparking specs but more on basic functions.
