Last May, a rumor erupted that Marvel was interested in taking Zac Efron into its fold. It seems logical, being a Disney company, Efron and Marvel have natural ties.

There were plenty of rumors of possible roles, but some of the characters were not even introduced yet. That changes now after "Guardians of the Galaxy" was shown.

The rumor was first broken by Latino Review and was eventually gobbled up by other sites with various speculation scenarios. The original, breaking report:

"Here's a BARE BONES post that is just split into facts and speculation.

'Neighbors,' an R-Rated Zac Efron/Seth Rogen comedy, beat the crap out of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' at the box office and the mega franchising gods at Walt Disney heard the other foot drop: 'It's time to Efron up.'

We can exclusively report that Zac Efron is being looked at for unspecified role in an upcoming Marvel Studios project. He was given a script for the project just recently and currently no one knows which part is actually in play. The only one that knows that answer is his Manager and he will not comment on it."

Most of them speculated that he would play "Daredevil" in the Netflix series, but that role has already been awarded to Charlie Cox. The other rumored role is for Dr. Strange. This is still possible and the movie has actually been given a director and a release date.

Multiple Hollywood A-listers are positioning themselves for the role. Johnny Depp and Joaquin Phoenix are reportedly on the studio's wishlist. You can see that Efron is not in this age group, as the Sorcerer Supreme should be tad older.

With 'Guardians of the Galaxy' two possible roles have been given weight as actual possibilities: Nova and Adam Warlock. Between the two, the presumption is that Warlock would have the bigger role specifically in the final battle against Thanos presumably set in "Avengers 3." Warlock is also ageless, so Efron's youth would not get in the way.
