Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Z3 Compact Shows Up Once More In Leaked Images, More Rounded Design A 'Mini' Killer?

Weeks before the IFA event in Berlin where the best Android smartphones are released, a number of leaked images appeared this time showing once again one of the upcoming Sony phones for 2014 - the Xperia Z3 Compact.

Based on previous leaks and Sony's previous designing habits, the Xperia Z3 Compact borrows from its larger sibling in terms of design. In the leaked images, the smaller flagship now gets rounded corners and edges, making it more user-friendly for owners who are fond of handling their phones with just one hand.

Let's face it, Sony makes some of the industry's most gorgeous handsets, but great looks come at a price. Most of the time, the trouble begins with its smartphones being just huge, and sometimes even bigger than other phones whose displays are already 5.5 inches above.

While the Sony Xperia Z flagship lineup is certainly not phablets, the extremely huge top and bottom bezels make it look like a phablet.

Thankfully, it looks like Sony has been paying attention to fans, especially for those who prefer a more pocket-sized handset that they could carry anywhere without the need for a bag.

Now that the Xperia Z3 Compact has allegedly shed some inches of waistline, as well as its rectangular look because of the rounded edges, does it pose a threat to existing 'mini' handsets such as the Samsung Galax5 mini, HTC One mini 2, and the LG G3 mini?

In terms of specs, there's no question and the Xperia Z3 Compact will beat them all easily. The Android-powered smartphone will reportedly pack a 4.6-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, and the high-end 20.7MP Sony-made primary shooter.

However, as far as prices go, the Xperia Z3 Compact will certainly be priced higher than most 'minis' so in that case, we may actually include this one with Chinese heavyweights such as Xiaomi and Huawei which has been making headlines due to their rise in terms of market in the mobile market.
