‘How I Met Your Dad’ [UPDATE]: ‘HIMYM’ Spin-Off ‘Will Not Move Forward’, Creator Confirms On Twitter

"How I Met Your Dad," the proposed spin-off of CBS' successful show "How I Met Your Mother," is definitely never going to reach your TV screen. "HIMYM" show creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas took to Twitter to quash the dreams of fans rooting for the spin-off "How I Met Your Dad" to make it on TV.

"To second my bro @CarterBays, any article you read about #HIMYD being kept alive is not true. Sadly, that project will not move forward. We loved making #HIMYD and are sad it couldn't move ahead, but sometimes that's how it goes," Craig Thomas wrote on Twitter.

As we previously reported, Carter Bays posted on Twitter that "How I Met Your Dad" was a dead idea.

"I don't know why I keep reading articles about this, but since nobody bothers asking us: We are really, truly not working on HIMYD anymore," Bays tweeted previously.

We can't say this is necessarily a failure on their part - "How I Met Your Mother" debuted September 19, 2005 and ran for nine seasons with a total of 208 episodes, Breathecast reports.

According to Digital Spy, Bays continued: "'HIMYD' was fun to work on, terrific cast, terrific writer, but it's over now and we have other stuff we want to do.

"Maybe in the future it could be something, but I think we need to try something new before we go back to it."

He added: "To everyone who wanted to see it, I'm sorry. (And to everyone who didn't, you're welcome!)"

The "How I Met Your Dad" pilot originally starred Greta Gerwig, Nicholas D'Agosto, Andrew Santino, Tiya Sircar, Drew Tarver, Anders Holm, and Meg Ryan providing narration for the older version of Gerwig's character.
