Nokia Lumia Icon Review: Specs Of Windows Mobile Incl. 5” Display, Quad-Core Processor, 32 GB Memory, 2 GB RAM, 20 MP Camera; ‘Best In The Series,’ Says Report

Nokia Lumia Icon review: Powered by a 2.2 GHz Krait 400 quad-core processor, coupled with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, the third Lumia model sports a 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen 32 GB internal storage, 2 GB RAM, and a 20 MP camera—just the right mix of specs and features to make it a powerful mid-range smartphone.

In fact, Techno Buffalo is even saying that it is the “best in the series.” True, it is not as large as the 6-inch Lumia 1520. Its camera is also not as grand as the 41-megapixel Lumia 1020. Still, there is something about this handset that makes it stand out from its Lumia brothers.

“Think of the Icon as an amalgam of the best Nokia and Windows Phone features, gloriously stuffed into a single device, like a shrunken Lumia 1520,” said the website.

At first look, it seems like nothing changed with the Lumia Icon’s look. Measuring 5.39 x 2.80 x 0.39 inches and weighing 167 grams, it seems that the handset has already adapted the best features that the Lumia designs can offer. However, some are saying that it has also mainly followed the flat, black slab design of the Lumia 928.

But if we take a closer look, we’ll see that it has a heftier, durable, and premium finish. Instead if using a single polycarbonate shell like other Lumia models, the Icon used a smooth aluminum ring to surround its edges.

Display-wise, there is definitely nothing wrong with the Icon’s 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 441 ppi, It is crisp, bright, and vibrant enough to let you browse websites, send messages and look at pictures even under the sun.

There is also no problem with the performance. Thanks to its powerful processor, the Icon runs smoothly in games and multi-tasking. However, it could have improved more by having a microSD card slot for external storage.

So what does the Techno Buffalo have to say about this smartphone? “The Lumia Icon is the culmination of Nokia's hardware and software, combined with the best version of Windows Phone.”

No doubt about it, the Lumia Icon has the most balanced specs in the series, proving that Nokia is still striving to improve, not just to innovate.
