Vin Diesel 'Inhumans' Movie Not Happening? Who Owns The Rights To The Inhumans Characters As They First Appeared In 'Fantastic Four?'

The "Inhumans" have long been in the Marvel rumor mill. It is their replacement for the mutants (X-Men, X-Force, Wolverine) since the rights to those characters were acquired by Fox. But do they also hold the rights to the Inhumans?

The question was raised as Rob Liefeld, comic book writer/artist and creator of various mutant characters like X-Force and Deadpool had a valid point in his tweet.

From their official Wiki page (also verified in Marvel database): “The Inhumans first appeared in Fantastic Four #45 (December 1965), though members Medusa and Gorgon appeared in earlier issues of that series (#36 and #44, respectively).” The question was indeed raised shortly after the tweet was posted. Can Fox stop Marvel from making an Inhumans movie?

Apparently not, because the Inhumans rumor has been around for more than a year now and Fox is not objecting. Also, for characters that appear prominently on both Avengers and X-men, for example Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, both studios can actually use them given certain limitations.

The Inhumans would be a very logical step for Marvel because they have already introduced the Kree (the blue alien in 'Agents of SHIELD' has been identified as Kree) the alien race that created the Inhumans through genetic experiments.

It was even rumored at some point that since Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch cannot be identified as mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they might change their origin story to project them as Inhumans. But this has been debunked by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Nevertheless, the Inhumans movie will probably happen..
