‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Cast: Ben Affleck Plays Mid-40s Bruce Wayne! Affleck's Portrayal Will Be Compared To RDJ's Tony Stark!

"Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" producer Michael Uslan has been as passionate about the character as anyone on the planet.  He reveals one of the most integral factors that sets this incarnation of Batman different from the rest.

Looking back at the long history of Batman films (celebrating 25 years from the release of the first Tim Burton Batman movie) he talked about the casting choices-and how Michael Keaton was someone he was not agreeable with to play Bruce Wayne.

Uslan talked to app.com:  "I'd just assumed he (Tim Burton) was pulling my leg. So I go: 'Oh, that's a great idea. I've spent the last almost eight years now trying to bring a dark and serious Batman to the screen, so let's have a comedian play him. I can see the poster now, 'Mr. Mom is Batman.' And, it took him 20, 30 minutes to convince me that this was no joke, that Tim was being serious, and I was absolutely beside myself."

"We've been through this I don't know how many times already. Every time a director makes a creative, out-of-the-box-thinking decision on casting, it tends to get this. I remember even the 'Iron Man' (2008) guys got it on Robert Downey Jr. initially."

Speaking of Downey, this edition of Batman will be compared to the Tony Stark all the more. He is less physical and more cerebral than Christian Bale's version, partly because of his age.

"So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he's going to be extraordinary."

He reminds of one of the most lambasted casting choices: "Of course, we got it intensely when another genius, Chris Nolan, chose Heath Ledger to play the Joker (in 2008's 'The Dark Knight'). And it was a huge outcry: 'How can a guy who just played a gay cowboy (in 2005's 'Brokeback Mountain') play the Joker? You're going to destroy the greatest villain ever, this is going to be a laugh.'"

Ledger turned out to be one of the greatest Jokers ever winning a posthumous Academy award for Best Supporting Actor in that role.

The Affleck Batman will also be under scrutiny on March 25, 2016-the new release date of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."
