Upcoming Motorola Phones 2014: Moto G2 Launches In Sept. 10, packs 5" 720p Display, Snapdragon 400, Dual-SIM Support, But Costs Higher Than Expected

For people who loved the Moto G, they are surely waiting for one of the upcoming Motorola phones for 2014, particularly the successor to the well-loved midranger.

And it looks like the phone will be making its debut sooner rather than later.

According to a report from GSM Arena, their sources claim that the Moto G successor would arrive not later than September 10.

So what would the new midranger bring to the table? Well, not much,

In the report, the device will get most of the same specs of the previous generation Moto device, which include a Snapdragon 400 chipset, quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, and 1GB of RAM. There is also an 8GB of built-in storage, though we hope that Motorola would be generous enough to include a microSD card slot.

Some of the major changes include the screen, which now stands at 5 inches, with HD (1280 x 720) resolution. This should be a welcome change for the midranger given that more and more Android users use their devices for multimedia and entertainment.

Another improvement is the 8-megapixel primary camera at the back, and a 2MP front cam which cameraphone enthusiasts would surely love. The Moto G2 will run on the latest Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat version.

The only setback for the upcoming Motorola phone is its rumored pricing which is tipped to be around $333, which is almost double the Moto G's pricing when it was launched last year.

Are the improvements of the new midranger enough to justify such a huge spike in price? In comparison, some high-end Android smartphones only cost $320 but pack mouth-watering specs such as a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM, and a 13MP/8MP primary and secondary camera combo.

The Moto G is one of  the most-sold Android devices last year due to its competitive pricing and decent specs. But if this rumored pricing for its successor is true, then Motorola may need to put more effort on the marketing aspect to get people to buy this instead of more affordable brands.
