Nokia Lumia 930 Review: Could This Be The Last Windows Flagship Phone From Microsoft-Nokia Tandem?

With all of the upcoming smartphones this quarter, it may be worth noting if the Nokia Lumia 930 is worth looking at in a short review. Announced back in April during Microsoft's BUILD Conference, the WP-powered handset provided much hope for the Redmond giant just to revive its dying mobile platform.

At the same time, Microsoft also announced the Windows Phone 8.1 update which would bring a number of decent features such as a dedicated notification area dubbed Action Center, better swiping and gesture features when typing, a more customizable smartphone screen, even support for Flip Covers, and the virtual assistant Cortana.

The Lumia 930 is in itself a very marketable product. While its specs are a year-old already, it is still definitely a high-end device that can take on any kind of task or work you throw at it.

The Nokia handset packs a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a quad-core CPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and 2GB of RAM.

Also on board is a 20MP PureView camera and a 2MP front snapper to satisfy the cameraphone lovers.

Still, the Lumia 930 lacks something - it does run on Android. This means its potential to run on a widely popular platform is yet to be tested. And if you are a company who wants to sell, then Android is the place to be.

In a recent report, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is clear in his point to turn this company around and improve in the coming months. But maybe the Redmond giant should just face it - if you cannot beat them, join them.

For the past two decades, Nokia is considered as one of the best phone makers in the industry due to the quality of its devices. The Fins tried to include Android, but still with the overall appearance of Windows Phone.

In the next two years, rumor has it that Nokia (what's left of it in Finland) may develop another mobile department to work on Android, and when that time comes, Microsoft will be left alone with Windows Phone. So even before that fateful day comes, it should already make a decision whether to stick with Windows Phone until the end, or embrace Android.
