HTC One M8 Review: Will The Windows Phone 8.1 Powered HTC Device Bring Revenue

Earlier this year, HTC launched its new high-end flagship and since then a lot of Android fans have been checking out different HTC One M8 review articles just to make that this is certainly the smartphone for them.

Fast forward to August and we now read in several reports that the HTC handset will be having a Windows Phone version.

This is not the first time HTC will be launching a smartphone that runs on Microsoft's mobile platform, but it comes as a surprise that the Taiwanese manufacturer did not bother developing a separate hardware for Windows Phone 8.1 just like the HTC 8S and 8X a couple of years back.

What we now have here is a smartphone that was designed and intended to run on Android, but now gets Windows Phone 8.1.

Right now, the device is not yet available but it should be launched soon as several renders of the device have already made the rounds all over the Web.

In case you need a refresher, the HTC One M8 packs a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, and 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. Thankfully there is a microSD card slot on board.

Behind the device is the Duo Camera with a 4MP UltraPixel sensor and a secondary depth sensor at the top. In front is a 5MP regular camera that will be enough to shoot high resolution selfie shots and clips.

In previous reports, there were a number of HTC One M8 features which are not supported by Windows Phone 8.1. One of these is the support for interactive cases. The Dot Case View casing of the One M8 is a cool-looking case that allows your device to display only the basic details such as time, date and day, even without opening the case.

Thankfully, the new GDR1 update of the One M8 reportedly includes support for that.
