BlackBerry Q20 release date: Specs of the BlackBerry Q20 is expected to bear features of much-love BlackBerry classics. Features to be included are a QWERTY keyboard, amongst others. The Q20, which is set to be unveiled before the end of the year is said to be BlackBerry’s answer to Apple’s mobile flagship. But does a BB10 powered unit have a chance against an iOS 8 rival?

The CEO of BlackBerry is confident about his company’s feature and have only impressive things to suggest about it’s upcoming product.

"There's a new product called the BlackBerry Classic that's coming out. It's an updated and enhanced version of one of our most popular and successful products called the Bold. It will include a keyboard and a good touch-screen, very fast Internet, Web-browsing capability and multimedia capability. But also it will be very productive and very secure," he said.

Chen added, "So, all the familiar things that people love, with some new technology updated. That will come out in November along with the server that helps companies manage devices. Not only the BlackBerry device, but every device, the iPhone and Androids and Windows and everything else. So, the new products will have a lot to do with the architecture.”

Speculations suggest that the upcoming handset will have a TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 582 ppi. It’s overall design is inspired by the Bold series’ classic and elegant finish.

Aside from the hardwayre, BlackBerry is also eyeing to improve its operating system with the new BlackBerry 10.3. In fact, The Amazon App store announced last June of its tie-up with BlackBerry. If things push through, the Q20 will be able to boast more than 240,000 Android applications such as Netflix, Pinterest, and Minecraft to be available for BB users.

Since it has experienced its downward trajectory of losing market share, BlackBerry seems unable to rebound. The Ontario-based mobile company has lost more than 40% of the market share leadership it once had to Apple and Samsung, companies that are blazing the trail for smartphones. The BlackBerry Z10, which the company has launched, received rave reviews and the BlackBerry Z3 was also well received.

It will be difficult to determine if BlackBerry Q20 can actually go head to head with an Apple mobile device, but the momentum BlackBerry has built with a string of successful product launches needs to be fueled.
