‘Game Of Thrones’ Movie Finale Will Only Happen If Budget Is $200 Million Says George RR Martin; Author Reveals Which Scenes In The Series Are Expensive To Make

While HBO executives previously confirmed that it might not be possible to have a "Game of Thrones" movie as a finale, author George RR Martin believed otherwise. In an interview with Independent, the writer of the bestselling series expressed his willingness for the idea as long as it would have a production budget worth $200 million.

"If we go seven or eight seasons and then the show is still big enough that we can get the $200m to finance a huge epic movie to end it... sure!" he told the Irish publication.

Each "Game of Thrones" episode is believed to consume nearly $6 million for production costs. Despite the hefty budget, the author of "A Song of Ice and Fire" says that many scenes have to be altered by HBO because of budgetary concerns.

" We've done a couple of great battles, for example, the Black Water battle in season two that I scripted and in this past season, episode nine was one long battle - the Battle of the Wall. Those have been great episodes, but we've also had to skip half the battles. Instead we have a messenger run on from off stage and say 'We've won the battle!' Battles are very expensive," he said.

Should there be a "Game of Thrones" movie, will it be shown in 3D? As for Martin, he does not really care since 3D movies give him "headache."

With the fame of his works, Martin is proud that he has the "best fans in the world" although he has likewise recognized the existence of the "annoying" ones.

Recently, the 65-year-old author addressed the concerns of those worried that he might die and not finish the series.

I find that question pretty offensive, frankly, when people start speculating as to my death and my health. So, f*** you to those people," he told Swisss publication Tages-Anzeiger.
