Samsung Galaxy Note 2 specs, update: The 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet’s international variant is getting a special Android upgrade that’s based on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The International Business Times reported that the new firmware update with build number N7100XXUFNG4 is now available for download on the international version of the phablet. The stock update is rolling out on Asian countries over the air and through Samsung Kies.

PhoneArena notes that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a quad-core processor and 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 resolution. It has an 8-megapixel back-side illuminated (BSI) rear camera and a 1.9MP front-facing camera. It is available in three versions – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It comes with a 3,100 mAh battery.

Manual installation of the firmware maybe done but users are cautioned that KpopStarz will not be held responsible for whatever happens to your device and that you are 100% your device meets the pre-requisit for installing the update.

SamMobile listed on their site instructions for the firmware, which includes the following:

• Extract (unzip) the firmware file
• Download Odin v3.09
• Extract Odin zip-file
• Open Odin v3.09
• Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
• Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
• Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
• Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
• Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a predecessor the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and is deemed one the most loved phablets released by the South Korean tech giant. The Note 2 is compatible with Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit.
