Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: HTC's One M8 Could Be The WP 8.1-Device You've Been Waiting For, Hitting Verizon On August 19

You'll never guess that one of the more interesting upcoming Windows phones for 2014 is not from Microsoft and Nokia, neither it is from Samsung, Sony and other Indian and Chinese brands who have expressed their interest in delivering a Windows Phone 8.1 powered device.

This interesting WP phone is the HTC One M8.

Originally developed to run on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat, the HTC flagship will soon get a Windows Phone 8.1 version. It is only pretty odd to see an Android flagship officially run WP. The question now remains why the Taiwanese manufacturer did not choose to develop a new phone.

Is the company on cost-cutting measures? Are they just testing whether the One M8 could do well in a less appealing market in Windows Phone?

Whatever the answers are to these questions, the HTC One M8 is probably the best Windows Phone right now. The smartphone has successfully crossed the bridge from Android to Windows Phone, and retained its high-end specs.

The HTC One M8 still gets a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM, BoomSound speakers, a 4MP UltraPixel camera at the back with a secondary depth sensor, and a 5MP camera in front.

Running the show for the One M8 are four cores running at either 2.3GHz or 2.5GHz, and should be more than enough to make your Windows Phone experience as fluid and lightning fast as ever. Currently, even 512MB RAM phones which run on Windows Phone are able to get fluid home transitions and animations.

In the report by GSM Arena, the HTC One M8 Windows Phone will be announced on August 19 in New York.

Is this your next smartphone before the year ends? Or would this just be another wasted effort from HTC to get the market's attention?
