Team USA Basketball: Anthony Davis Is The Most Valuable Player For The Stars And Stripes! New Orleans Pelicans’ Center Has All-Around Monster Game In Brazil!

After Kevin Durant's departure, everyone thought that Team USA would be a broken team. But if Anthony Davis plays up to his potential, the stars and stripes may be unbeatable!

Davis is now the starting center for the team, as they are likely to play 'small ball.' In the regular season, the "Unibrow" would play his natural power forward position thanks to the acquisition of Omer Asik. That remains one of the most underrated off season moves. Davis and Asik will be a nightmare for opposing players who like to score in the paint.

But let's talk Team USA. Davis has no defensive specialist center beside him on this team, unless Andre Drummond or DeMarcus Cousins morph into one. They are more ball-centric low post players, so Anthony Davis' value actually multiplies.

Davis was impressive in their friendly game against Brazil. NBC Sports covers:

"Davis finished with 20 points (on 15 shots), 8 rebounds and 5 blocks on the night. The Chicago native was pretty much Team USA's best player at the United Center.

Coach K says: 'We think he's one of the top players in the league and we need for him to be that five that nobody has. Everyone talks about things we don't have, well they don't have him.'"

Despite all the praise, Davis acknowledges the tutelage of the Team USA program. From Sheridan Hoops: "I learned a lot, what the system is about. It's all a process. I wasn't complaining because I wasn't playing or anything like that. I was 19 years old and I was still learning. We had the best players on the planet on that time, and I knew coming in that I wasn't going to play, but I'm happy I'm getting my chance now."

He could be the MVP of the tournament, and maybe from there he could take the same career path as Kevin Durant:

"We hope it will be like what happened with some of the guys on the 2010 team, and that this launches what should be a storied career for him." - Coach K.

The 2010 team eventually had two MVPs-Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. Rose will start at point for the team again, but Anthony Davis will be the defensive anchor and will also be a monster in the paint. He is in the best position to become the team's "Alpha Dog."
