Greg Allman Biopic 'Midnight Rider' producer Jay Sedrish pleaded not guilty in the death of Sarah Jones

Jay Sedrish, the executive producer and unit production manager of the Gregg Allman biopic "Midnight Rider," pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass in the death of a 27-year-old camera assistant Sarah Jones.

Sarah Jones, 27, died during shooting "Midnight Rider," the ill-fated Greg Allman biopic. Seven other crew members were injured. Jones was fatally struck by a freight train on the set of Midnight Rider. 

Last month "Midnight Rider" director Randall Miller and producer Jody Savin pleaded not guilty to the same charges. They had turned themselves in to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Sedrish's lawyer, John Ossick, confirmed that Sedrish waived his right for an arraignment and asked the court to enter a not guilty plea by mail.

Second camera assistant Sarah Jones was killed near Jessup, Georgia during the first day of shooting "Midnight Rider," The day's shoot was of a dream sequence on a railroad trestle, with a hospital bed on the tracks. Jones was killed when a train came across the bridge. The crew was hit was debris. Jones was knocked into the path of the train by debris from the bed.

The producers of  the Greg Allman Biopic "Midnight Rider" recently sued its insurance company New York Marine. The producers claim the insurer refused to pay claims after the production halted and incurred at least $1.6 million in losses.

The parents of Sarah Jones sued 10 individuals, including director Randall Miller, and eight corporations, including CSX Transportation, which owns the railroad tracks where Feb. 20 tragedy took place, Film Allman and Unclaimed Freight Productions. Singer Gregg Allman was sued along with others accused of being responsible for the February death of the young camera assistant.

The film "Midnight Rider" is based on legendary rocker Gregg Allman's memoir. Weeks ago, Allman recently settled a lawsuit with producers designed to stop director Randall Miller from continuing with the film after a train killed camera assistant Sarah Jones while working on the project in southeast Georgia.

William Hurt, who was set to play Gregg Allman in the film, dropped out of shooting.

Besides working on Midnight Rider, Sarah Jones was also a crewmember on "The Vampire Diaries."
