Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Huawei Rumored To Launch Midranger With Fingerprint Scanner, Gets 720p Display, 1.6GHz, CPU, 1GB RAM

Starting next month, we will definitely see more upcoming Android phones in 2014 that aim to compete with one another to become the top handset of the year.

However, as for Huawei, it may not be interested in getting that honor in terms of specs, but sales.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Chinese manufacturer is reportedly working on an Android midranger. However, this is not your ordinary midranger as the device will reportedly boast a fingerprint scanner at the back.

In the report, the Huawei smartphone was covered by a phone casing so we cannot see what the device actually looks like. Still, there are already portions for the camera as well as the alleged fingerprint scanner.

According to the report, the mysterious smartphone could be the Huawei Ascend G7 which is the midranger successor of the Ascend G6 last year.

Some rumored specs include a 720p resolution of unknown screen size, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.6GHz.

Because the device already looks ready to go, the Huawei smartphone could be unveiled during the IFA event in Berlin next month. Huawei is currently the third smartphone vendor as far as sales are concerned behind only Apple and Samsung.

That means the Chinese brand is slowly but surely inching its way to the duopoly which has been the face of the mobile market for the last couple of years. Aside from Huawei, another emerging Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi is poised to take the market by storm once more with its upcoming Xiaomi Mi4 flagship, which packs specs similar to the Galaxy S5, One M8 and Xperia Z2, but costs only $400.

The smartphone competition is beginning to be tighter and tighter, particularly within the Android fence. Let's see who has the final laugh by the end of the year.
