"Red Dead Redemption 2" is probably in the works at Rockstar, here is a roundup of all the rumors. 

The rumors started when Motoring Crunch saw a new game mentioned on a Linkedin Profile for a senior Rockstar Developer. According to the Motoring Crunch report, (or this one) the senior engineer, Feinstein, let it leak that he is working on a sequel to a famous IP from Rockstar.

Leslie Benzies, the President of Rockstar Games, recently hinted that the company was working on a "big project." There are only three possible titles most believe it could be; Red Dead Redemption, Bully and Manhunt. "Red Dead Redemption" was the most profitable of the three, so it the most likely to be in the works.

Rockstar also might have been talking about "Agent" which recently extended the game's trademark and Sony mentioned it at 2009's E3. Indeed Motoring Crunch has also said that they may have been wrong about "Red Dead Redemption 2" and that the game Rockstar was hinting at was actually "Agent"

Rockstar's Italian website gave some confirmation by listing the game as pending. Also, CEO of Take Two, Strauss Zelnick, has been teasing fans by claiming that Rockstar has a few titles in development for the Xbox One and the PS4.

The first title in the series was called "Red Dead Revolver" and the second was called "Red Dead Redemption" so the next installment of the game probably won't be called "Red Dead Redemption 2" but rather "Red Dead (new word) some have gone on to speculate the third word would be rebellion. 

To be clear, Rockstar Games has not officially announced its plans to release a follow-up to "Red Dead Redemption,"however, the company did say back in 2012 that it wasn't completely finished with the "Red Dead" franchise, and expressed its hopes to release a new installation in future.

Rockstar said then, as quoted by Hallels, "We don't always rush to make sequels but that does not mean that we won't get back to them eventually. Stay tuned for further announcements about the future of the Red Dead series."

All this has lead some analysists to report a November 2015 release date, based on average time it takes to make a game but this has not been confirmed by an official source.
