iPad Air 2 Release Date: Fret Not Apple Fans, New-Gen Slate Could Get 2GB Instead Of 1GB RAM

The iPad Air 2 release date is tipped to be within the last quarter of the year, and as early as now Apple fans are already very excited to see what the Cupertino manufacturer has in store for them.

Unfortunately, a recent report about the iPhone 6 has made us worry. In the report, the new smartphone will reportedly get only 1GB of RAM, just like the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c. In spite getting a bigger display, faster chipset, and new iOS version, retaining its small RAM could be a deal-breaker for some iPhone fans.

Unfortunately, that won't be the case for the next generation iPad Air 2.

According to a report by BGR, Apple leaker MacRumors claim that the upcoming Apple slate will most probably get 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB.

The reason that makes the leaker so sure is that the iOS 8-powered slate will get a split screen multi-tasking feature which would be a first for Apple. Running two tasks simultaneously will require more RAM, thus a 1GB RAM for the iPad Air 2 will be highly inefficient.

As for the iPad Air 2's specs, there is still the Retina display, a rumored sapphire screen, the same build and design, a Touch ID home button, a new A8 chipset, and the new version of iOS, version 8.

Last year, Apple surprised the industry when it launched a much thinner iPad compared to its predecessor. In fact, the iPad Air sold better than the iPad mini Retina which was expected to be a best-seller for Apple for the holiday season. Now, it looks like the Cupertino manufacturer will be focusing more on its bigger slate than the Retina, though a new version for the Retina mini may also arrive some time this year.

We'll bring you more updates on Apple products in the coming days and weeks.
