‘Ant Man’ Movie: Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne To Eventually Become The Wasp? [PHOTOS] Reveal She's Got The Haircut! What Happened To Janet Van Dyne?

The "Ant Man" movie has started filming and one of the biggest question marks in the film continues to be "Where in the world is Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp?" Evangeline Lilly has been identified as Hope VanDyne-her daughter. Is she taking on all the roles that her mother assumed?

One of the sites that continue to take a bold stance on this movie is Badass Digest. Another contemporary site, Comic Book Movie, has conceded that indeed, BD is "privy to the script" as they claim. However, with the directorial change, it is assumed that the script has already been altered.

With regards to the question of Hope van Dyne becoming The Wasp, Lilly took to Instagram to share this:

And Badass Digest was quick to point out that it so closely resembled this look of Janet Van Dyne in the comic books:

So Badass Digest opens the discussion:

"Does the haircut and the name change indicate that Lilly is going to be playing The Wasp in this movie? Unless the script has changed drastically, no. She is certainly being set up for that role in the future, but before Peyton Reed came on the film Hope had no superheroing duties in the film. Reed - working with Adam McKay and other writers - may have changed that, but I suspect that the large adjustments to VFX would make that unlikely. Maybe we'll get a look at Lilly in a Wasp suit at the end of the movie, but take down the excitement for The Wasp one notch or so."

BD also offers their take on the Janet Van Dyne question. Is she dead?

"By the way, there have been some claims that Janet Van Dyne was 'fridged' before the movie opens. Again, I don't have working knowledge of the latest draft of the Ant-Man script, but previous drafts had her 'gone,' not dead. That's vague, and could mean Janet is lost in the Microverse, ready to show up in a future film. Also, technically speaking, having Hank Pym be a widower isn't the same as fridging Janet - there are specific things that go into fridging, and they're about using the death of a woman to motivate a male character."

Janet Van Dyne is one of the most illustrious heroines in the Marvel Universe, even becoming leader of the Avengers. With the current clamor for female representation, it's hard to imagine that Marvel will just toss her aside. As for Hope Van Dyne becoming the Wasp--the studios know that we are watching their every move. No Easter egg is mere coincidence, it's either a clue or misdirection. We have to determine which before "Ant Man" is released on July 17, 2015.
