Peter Capaldi And Jenna Coleman On Clara Leaving 'Doctor Who' After Season 8 Christmas Special: 'I Don't Want To Tell You The Truth'

"Doctor Who" season 8 is nearly upon us, and now Whovians are curious as to whether Clara, portrayed by Jenna Coleman, will be leaving the series.

Recently, both Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman commented on the rumors surround the actress leaving "Doctor Who" by the season 8 Christmas special.

"I've read she may be leaving at Christmas, but I don't even know if she'll get to Christmas. You've got to just watch and wait and see what happens," said Peter Capaldi on "The One Show."

"What I can say is that she is absolutely fabulous. The work she has done this season is extraordinary because she's called upon to do things that I don't think any other companion has had to do. To show a kind of emotional range and she's done it absolutely brilliantly. But tune in and see what happens."

Jenna Coleman, in speaking with "This Morning," was equally cryptic about Clara leaving "Doctor Who" season 8.

"The truth is I don't want to tell you the truth because I quite like these rumors," said Coleman. "I think it's really interesting because suddenly people don't know what is going to happen with the series, people don't have any idea. So this speculation is quite good. I think people can now watch the show not knowing if I am or not and I think that is quite exciting."

"Doctor Who" season 8 will premiere August 23.
