'Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt' May Not Run On 1080P, Release Date Already Delayed Once, CD Projekt Red Releases New 30 Minute Long Gameplay Trailer [VIDEO]

CD Projekt Red has responded to allegations that "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" will not be running on 1080p for the Xbox One and PS4 consoles.

Gamespot reports, "As [The Witcher 3 visual effects artist Jose Teixeira] said, we are working hard on optimizing the game and nothing is set in stone," Tinc explained. "Our engine team remains optimistic and we will surely squeeze the most we can out of each console. I know you might be expecting concrete info like the final frame rate and resolution, but it's simply impossible to give you that sort of thing before the optimization process is complete."

"If we can make it at 1080P, sure, but I don't know if it's going to make it."

IGN reports that visual effects artist Jose Teixeira said, "Ideally, we're pushing for 30 frames per second. The resolution, honestly, it depends; we're working on it, we're trying to get it as high as possible," said Teixeira.

"If we can make it at 1080P, sure, but I don't know if it's going to make it. To be honest, I really don't know. Probably not. But for sure, we need it to run at a smooth frame rate, so at least 30 FPS."

"We're asking the environment artists to put as many physics objects as possible, of course within the limits of memory and performance, but for example when you go inside the tavern, the tables, the mugs, the chairs are all subject to physics. Geralt has this spell, a push of force, and when he does that everything flies off the table. In the beginning it was crazy, but now we have it under control. It's going to be great."

"To be honest, we were expecting a lot worse. When we first started playing on PS4 and XB1, we expected the game not to work at all, because it was so heavy, so we were expeciting it to crash, but it's actually running. It's not quite there yet, but it's running. So I think that with a little more optimization, I think we'll get it running really well."

In April, a Russian website claimed that the PS4 version of the game would run in 900p, while the Xbox One version would output in 720p. CD Projekt Red said this was just a rumor, but in May CEO Marcin Iwinski said "there's a chance" the PS4 version will run slightly better than the Xbox One version.

The Witcher 3 was originally scheduled to launch this year, but was delayed until February 24, 2015.

CD Projekt Red recently published a 37-minute gameplay walkthrough, which you can watch below.
