YouTube To Charge Music Video With No Ads! Indie Group Finds It Unfavorable?

San Francisco Chronicle article on August 22 says that YouTube will charge music videos with no ads.

However, YouTube new policy of putting charges on a music video with no ads draw an opposite reaction from some of its partners.

The independent group lamented that they are being forced to agree with the said policy in which they find it unfavorable at all.

"It's awful that Indies are being treated as second-class citizens by YouTube," said Rich Bengloff, president of the American Association of Independent Music in an article by San Francisco Chronicle.

The said social media sites wouldn't disclose details of subscription plan, however Bengloff said the users should pay a fee if the music video has no ads.

According to the sources with a knowledge of the YouTube's plan say labels who don't agree to participate of YouTube charging the music video with no ads won't be able to make money from the ads on existing videos.

"We feel like since they are a monopoly, we need to be on YouTube," lamented by Bengloff in San Francisco Chronicle article.

Furthermore, according to the research of eMarketer, the social media site YouTube aims to make an estimated $3.3 billion ad revenue this year, but the subscriptions are not yet included.

 Moreover, the senior vice president and chief product officer Paul Springer of Rhapsody said in an article by San Francisco Chronicle that he believes YouTube is trying to persuade the users to pay for the subscriptions, when it has a brand as free video.
