"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Casting News: Brian Patrick Wade transform into as Marvel villain Crusher Creel, AKA the Absorbing Man, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 2.

The Absorbing Man can change into any form of matter or energy with the touch of a finger.

The Wrap reported that Wade's live-action portrayal will emerge in Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season two opener. Wade is is best known for playing Kurt in "The Big Bang Theory" and Ennis in "Teen Wolf."

The Absorbing Man began as boxer Carl "Crusher" Creel. The Marvel Comics supervillain debuted during the Silver Age of Comic Books and has been inked for over forty years.

After Crusher Creel was jailed criminal the Asgardian god Loki game him a drink that was that laced with rare ingredients that enabled him to absorb the properties of anything he touched, making him the Absorbing Man. He used that become the bullets and break out of jail.

Creel battled Thor, Odin, the Hulk Bruce Banner, Avengers, Daredevil, Dazzler and Spider-Man. Creel is a villain in the Secret Wars and gets down with villainess Titania. Creel and Titania battle the heroine She-Hulk and her Skrull partner Jazinda. Creel's overall power increases in direct proportion to the strength of the material absorbed.

Last week, Variety reported that Friday Night Lights favorite and comic book fan Adrianne Palicki will join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 cast additions like former Warrior Princess "Xena" Lucy Lawless who will play Isabelle Hartley, a veteran SHIELD agent; Nick Blood who joins as mercenary Lance Hunter; Reed Diamond who was cast as Daniel Whitehall, a HYDRA agent known as the Kraken; Henry Simmons who will play as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Alphonso "Mac" Mackenzie and Simon Kassianides as Bakshi.

Mockingbird is a trained Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who graduated at the top of her class. She's actually a doctor because she earned a Ph.D. in biology. Mockingbird was injected with an experimental drug combination of Super Soldier Serum, the one that that gave Captain America his strength, and the Infinity Formula. She died in the comic series and came back as a reanimated corpse and then more permanently. Mockingbird was first seen in the Ka-Zar story written by Gerry Conway and pencilled by Barry Smith in Astonishing Tales #6 in June 1971.

Palicki was cast as Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley's TV pilot of the same name that was never picked up. Palicki is best known for her roles in "Friday Night Lights," "About a Boy" and "Lone Star."

Patton Oswalt, who plays Billy Koenig and Sam Koenig first teased about the addition of Mockingbird to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in July at Comic-Con. She played Wonder Woman in the WB pilot Aquaman. She will star with Keanu Reeves in "John Wick," which is due in October, "Baby, Baby, Baby" and "G.I. Joe 3."

Agents of SHIELD returns Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
