Cameron Diaz has famously always enjoyed the bachelorette lifestyle, but friends say she might be ready to change her ways, and settle down with current boyfriend Benji Madden. The movie star, who has been romantically linked to a long list of Hollywood leading men and has always balked at the concept of marriage, is reportedly seriously considering an isle walk with the heavily tattooed rocker.

Diaz once famously told InStyle magazine, “I don’t know if anyone is naturally monogamous. We all have the same instincts as animals.” That aversion to settling down has been seemingly reflected in her romantic life, which has had no shortage of failed relationships with celebs such as Matt Dillon, Bradley Cooper, Alex Rodrigues, Keanu Reeves and Adam Levine. She did get serious a couple of times: She dated Jared Leto for four years – from 1999 till 2003. She also dated Justin Timberlake for nearly four years, and friends said she believed he might be “the one.” But when they parted ways in 2007, the actress attributed the split to her own commitment-phobia.

The other surprising element of the possible impending Diaz-Madden nuptials is how much he differs from her usual type. Diaz has described her preference as men who are “clean-cut, but with a bad-boy edge.” Madden is pretty much all bad-boy and not at all clean-cut. Diaz has also tended to date fellow A-listers in the past. Madden certainly has a respectable fan following, but nowhere near the same level of star wattage as the Something About Mary star.

Madden, for his part, also seems to be going against type in this relationship. Past girlfriends have included Paris Hilton and former Playboy model and Girls Next Store star Holly Madison; bomb shells who are known more for their looks and tabloid buzz than any serious body of work.

 The unlikely couple found each when Madden’s sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, decided to play match-maker with the two. The fashion designer and reality TV star reportedly told Diaz she should “cut the douchebags loose,” and take a chance on a nice guy like Madden. The two hit it off, and the rest is history. Maybe Richie should get maid-of-honor designation if they do get hitched.
