The "Avengers: Age of Ultron" main cast members are a privileged bunch, but most of them are already lead stars in their own right. Scarlett Johansson is not seeing a let-up in terms of her popularity despite her pregnancy, and the projection of having her own Black Widow movie is a real concept.

All of the main heroes have already carried their own movies. Even Jeremy Renner, who is relatively the most minor hero among the bunch has his own action franchise starting with "The Bourne Legacy." Recently, Johansson showed her lead action chops in "Lucy" and it seems to have inspired more than just the moviegoers.

Neil Marshall, director of the "Constantine" TV series and also a couple of "Game of Thrones" episodes, has expressed his desire to direct a movie with strong female lead character. From Vanity Fair:

"I think I'd like to do a big movie with a strong female lead, whether or not she would be a superhero. I'm more interested in characters like Scarlett Johansson in 'Lucy.' I'm less interested in people with superpowers because I can't identify with them. Very rarely do they get killed off, and when they do get killed off, chances are they're going to be back . . . somehow. Yes, I'd love to do a big splashy movie with a great female lead, but it has to be someone I can believe in.

I would love to do a Black Widow movie. That's perfect, I would love to do that. That character is really interesting, she doesn't have any superpowers, she just has extraordinary skills, and the world that she comes from, being this ex-K.G.B. assassin, I find that really fascinating, yeah."

Based on his description, Black Widow is indeed a good choice. The Black Widow back story has been constantly teased, and we have heard "Budapest" a lot of times already and it's whacking every fanboy's imagination.

Marshall already had a movie with an almost all-female cast in the horror film "The Descent." He knows exactly how to handle a female heroine with a dark past!
