Guardians Of The Galaxy Updates: 'Guardians' Labeled ‘Biggest Movie Of The Summer’; Blockbuster Outshines TMNT

Guardians of the Galaxy is back on top as it hits #1 in the US spot on the weekend after it was voted second best after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the last two weeks. Having earned a gross income worth of $251.88-million, GotG is considered the "Biggest Movie of the Summer", Box Office Mojo reports.

This week, Guardians earned an estimated $17.6-million which made it outshine Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which only got $16.8-million. Further, the Box Office charts reported that the Guardians $251.88-million net made it to be considered the third- highest grossing film of the year. The two other films which cannot be toppled over are The Lego Movie with its total earnings of $257.75-million and Captain America: The Winter Soldier which recently earned $259.77-million this weekend.

New on the charts are movies, "If I Stay which ranked third place this week with its $15.7 million gross that topples Charlie St. Cloud with its $12.4 million earnings and The Giver ($12.3 million) which had its premiere last week with hit maker, Taylor Swift adding publicity on the movie.

The new ranking of Guardians of the Galaxy has caused mixed reactions from fans. "I don't know if I'd go as far to call GotG a tenderloin; however, it is the best damn pizza you ever had", goes a praise from from io9.com.

Some are also not so convinced of the GotG's current standing saying, "As much as I enjoyed GotG, I have to put my vote to Winter Soldier as the best movie this summer. Watching it again on digital streaming just reminded me of how much I loved the beats in the movie. I felt that same excitement again from the comfort of my couch. I can only imagine where Cap 3 takes us next. But hopefully it'll be from a Bru story idea."

Guardians has also made it to the box office charts in Germany, Italy, Japan and China, reports Box Office Mojo.
