Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Introducing The Thinnest Smartphone, Soon To Be Launched By Gionee

Most smartphone manufacturers today focus on certain aspects of their phone to get the interest of the industry. And as for Gionee, one of its upcoming Android phones 2014 is primarily centered on its super thin frame.

And it looks like this new smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer is already nearing its launch date.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, the Chinese phone maker has released a teaser image of its upcoming Gionee Elife smartphone.

And like its predecessor the Elife S5.5, the new version could be even thinner. The image lists down the thinnest smartphones in the industry through the years, starting off with the Moto V8 which launched in 2009 measuring 11mm, followed by the iPhone 4 which launched in 2010 and measures 9.3mm.

Second on the list is the Moto X1910 in 2011 which had a 7.1mm frame. The last phone on the teaser image is the Gionee Elife S5.5 which was announced this year.

If the recent Gionee Elife has a 5.5mm waistline, then we can only expect the successor to get a much thinner body. Through the years, the 5mm barrier has not been broken yet mainly because it would make the included battery too thin to provide any significant and long-lasting power to the smartphone.

However, the next Gionee Elife smartphone aims to debunk just that. While there are no available details about the smartphone aside from its being super thin, we expect the device to be unveiled next month while other OEMs are flaunting their devices at the IFA event in Berlin.
