Los Angeles Lakers Roster Needs To Look For Second Option As Love Won't Be In 2015 FA Pool

In several reports a couple of months ago, the Los Angeles Lakers roster is among the teams reportedly needing someone to upgrade its current frontcourt and become a dominant team once more.

Kevin Love was a potential answer to the Lakers' hopes, and they only need to wait for one season before he goes to free agency.

However, with the 25-year-old's recent trade to the Cavs, Los Angeles' hopes of getting a dominant big guy to score from inside and out, as well as clean up the boards have diminished.

Now, they just have to look elsewhere.

Another potential candidate that the Lakers will certainly pursue come free agency in 2015 will be LaMarcus Aldridge, who is shaping up to be one of the most versatile big men in the league.

At 29 years old, Aldridge is already at the peak of his career, and from a one way post threat, the forward/center has become a reliable shooter from midrange as well. During the previous season, Aldridge averaged 23.2 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest, which is a close second to Love's 26-12 averages last year.

In a recent report by ESPN, Alridge clearly stated that he wants to be the main guy for Portland in the years to come, even comparing himself to NBA legend Clyde Drexler who played his entire career with the Blazers.

Still, nothing is assured these days as Aldridge's decision can be changed based on the outcome of Portland's campaign in this upcoming season.

As for the Lakers, they just have to hang tough and try their best to make it to the Playoffs, in order to be a decent landing spot for free agents next year.
