This year is not the year of the tablets, and only Samsung and LG continue to try and saturate the market with its devices from entry level to high-end. But if you are still looking for upcoming Android tablets for 2014, you may want to look at this new slate from Sony. 

According to a report by GSM Arena, Sony's newest tablet has made the rounds all over the Internet and has showcased us its new design. Instead of the usual rectangular design with sharp edges, this new Android tablet looks similar to other slates offered by the competition. 

Dubbed as the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, the slate will be just like the smartphone version, it is compact but it packs a handful of specs which would surely leave any tech geek foaming in the mouth. 

As we can clearly see in the image, the guy who is using this Sony tablet just took a dip in a swimming pool and he is not in any way bothered that he is using a device near the water. So just like other Sony devices in the past, we expect the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact to be water resistant. 

The image also shows us another Sony Smartwatch and this would be the fourth installment in this wearable series by Sony. While it did not achieve the impact it wants, it has definitely fueled the wearable niche and the smartwatch is already considered as one of the most popular gadgets today. 

The new Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact may not be a high-end device at all, but its new look is certainly a testimony that Sony is still open when it comes to changing the aesthetics of its devices. We just hope it will come at the right price.
