The release date of iPhone 6 has appeared to be confirmed as a picture emerges of its supposed promotional art.

The editor of French Apple fan site nowhereelse.fr Steve Hemmerstoffer on Monday uploaded a photo of what he claimed was the company's new flagship smartphones' promotional artwork.

The box indicated the date, Tuesday September 9.

Hemmerstoffer, alleged that the document had been shared onto him by "most trusted and loyal Chinese sources," whom provided him a similar document "just hours before the launch conference of the iPhone 5s".

If the picture is real, the handset's Sleep/Wake button repositioned on the right side of the phone. The volume button is located on the left side. The ring/silent switch still on the left hand side of the phone and a lightening connector appears to be centered below the home button which still includes the Touch ID sensor.

"I take this article to point out that another of my sources says that the iPhone 6 to 4.7 inches (N61) will indeed come in a version equipped with 128GB of internal storage," says Hemmerstoffer on the website.

However, the rival site MacRumors questioned its credibility of the image stating that the artwork's font is not consistent with Apple's regular style and believes this references the iOS 7 launch on June 10.

Whether or not the picture is legitimate, September 9 is still the frontrunner for the iPhone 6 debut date.

The company is expected to launch both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch smartphones.
