Sony Xperia Z2 Compact Release Date: Specs Of Android ‘Mini’ Version Of Current Flagship Will Look Much Alike A2 Handset In Japan

Sony Xperia Z2 Compact release date: Specs of what could be the Xperia Z2’s mini version, dubbed as the Sony Xperia Z2, may have been unveiled through the availability of the Sony Xperia A2 in Japan. The compact Android handset is available exclusively via NTT DoCoMo and is expected to be the reference design if not the design itself for the upcoming Z2 Compact.

Specs of the A2 include a 4.3-inch display with a 1280 x 720 resolution. The handset is also powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core processor together with 2GB of RAM, a 20.7MP camera and a front-facing 2.2MP camera. The handset also has a 16GB internal storage with microSD support and a 2300 mAh battery. Other features of the Sony Xperia A2 include a dust and water-resistant built.

All these features are expected from the Sony Xperia Z2, but with minor modifications. The launch of new handsets by the Japanese tech giant on timeframes of only six months from a preceding release is based on their intent to keep up with the wave of competing flagships in the market today.

The highly anticipated Sony Xperia Z2 Compact is expected to compete with the upcoming HTC One Mini 2. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, the most recent compact version of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is expected to be in the market very soon.

Like most mobile handset makers these days, Sony has not put out an official statement regarding an upcoming Sony Xperia Z2 Compact, thus making all rumors and news about the matter mere speculations.

But based on the company’s history of releasing gadgets, it will not be surprising if Sony will unveil a new Android mini version of their famous and well received Xperia Z2 line.
