Summer Box Office Roundup: Pierce Brosnan's 'The November Man' And 'As Above, So Below' Not Expected To Make An Impact, 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Still On Top

As we head into Labor Day weekend and summer comes to a close, so does the summer blockbuster box office. In this final weekend before most kids go back to school, the two final studio releases of the summer aren't expected to do much damage, and "Guardians of the Galaxy" will solidify itself as this summer's highest grossing domestic film.

Pierce Brosnan will make his action film comeback this weekend with "The November Man" but due to its timing, the expectation is that it will have a modest opening. According to Variety, "Look for 'The November Man' to make $9 million to $11 million over the four day weekend and $13 million to $14 million during its first six days in theaters."

"The November Man" might have some trouble though as critics are already expressing disappointment. In fact, Indiewire warns, "On the other hand, those who aren't entirely convinced by the poster should ignore the familiar axiom of not judging a book by its cover, and walk away, because other than the prospect of watching one of the best 007's playing the game again, there's not much of value or substance in this action thriller."

In regards to the found-footage horror film "As Above, So Below," Variety predicts that the film "will likely pull in between $8 million to $10 million over the four day weekend." This film is also not getting good reviews, The Hollywood Reporter calling it a low budget effort that "provides a few late scares after plenty of eye-rolling setup."

With such low expectations from the summer's final studio efforts, Marvel and Disney can call "Guardians of the Galaxy" the number one film this summer in its newest promotions. Box Office Mojo expects the film to remain number one this weekend and surpass "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" as the highest grossing film of the year.

For this final summer weekend, audiences can chose to see a generic horror film, Pierce Brosnan and not much else, or "Guardians of the Galaxy" for the second or third time.
