Lindsay Lohan Lawsuit Update: GTA Creators Claim 'Mean Girls' Actress Sued For Publicity, Demands She Pay For Lawyer Fees

At the beginning of July it was announced that "Mean Girls" actress Lindsay Lohan was suiting the makers of "Grand Theft Auto V" for using her likeness for one of their game characters. The newest update in the case was a statement released through the Associated Press that Lindsay Lohan sued them for publicity and nothing else.

According to the LA Times, Lohan filed the lawsuit on the basis that the character Lacey Jonas used "her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses, jean shorts worn by the Plaintiff that were for sale to the public at least two years."

At the time, neither Take-Two Interactive Software or Rockstar Games commented on the lawsuit. Today however, "in Manhattan court papers made public Tuesday, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. and subsidiary Rockstar Games call the case frivolous and maintain it was 'filed for publicity purposes'," states the Associated Press.

In addition to this, the GTA team is also demanding that the actress pay for lawyer fees acquired while working on the case. If Lindsay Lohan did indeed sue the popular game franchise for publicity, perhaps it is a fair trade off.

Meanwhile, GTA fans don't believe the character resembles Lindsay Lohan at all. As one commenter on IGN's coverage of the announcement, "I wonder when she'll realize she has orange hair and the person in the rockstar game is a blonde. I laugh though and think of Lindsay thinking "that skank on GTA that gets filmed being a whore and then runs people over, thats totally me.""

Whether or not Lindsay Lohan really did sue for publicity, the case is at least a reminder that for certain celebrities, it may be better to ignore certain things than to respond with a lawsuit.
