2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Leandro Barbosa To Warriors Or Heat? Miami Interested But Golden State Has Advantage!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are now focusing on the last few roster spots. Leandro Barbosa is a skilled veteran who was underrated in his prime. Of course, he's not the same player but for some teams, he would be a valuable reserve.

The Miami Heat is a team in distress after the departure of LeBron James. They managed to acquire some players to help fill the void but they have not really addressed a position of weakness: point guard. Barbosa is a two way guard who can offer instant offense and experience for both positions.

The Miami based Sun Sentinel filed this story:

"Free-agent guard Leandro Barbosa, who currently is working with the Brazil national team in advance of the World Cup in hopes of showcasing his game for an NBA return, has drawn interest from the Heat.

A source familiar with the situation said Barbosa is on the Heat's radar, but is one of several veterans the Heat are considering, with no signing imminent.

Barbosa, 31, had an uneven 31-game stint last season with the Phoenix Suns. A combo guard, Barbosa could potentially address the Heat's lack of veteran experience behind Wade, with journeyman free agent Reggie Williams recently signed to add depth at the position. Heat President Pat Riley has also mentioned Chalmers as an option for minutes at shooting guard.

The Heat have only the veteran minimum to offer any free agent."

Barbosa has a void to fill after Toney Douglas, the third point guard in the rotation left for China. It is also expected that Dwyane Wade will see less minutes or spend time as small forward.

However, according to a recent tweets by Marc Stein of ESPN, Barbosa is already a target of another team, the Golden State Warriors. He describes the Warriors as having the advantage over the Heat for the services of the Brazilian guard.

Where will the Brazilian Blur end up? We'll keep you posted, but he'll play for his country in the FIBA World Cup and probably make his decision afterwards.

UPDATE: Marc Stein of ESPN has confirmed that Barbosa has agreed to a one year deal with the Golden State Warriors.
