2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Shannon Brown Joins The Miami Heat! The Door Closes For Michael Beasley As Heat Prioritize Dwyane Wade Back-Up!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are reaching the final stages as the teams fill out their rosters. Shannon Brown is hoping to have a career revival just like Leandro Barbosa is trying to do. But Brown actually signed with the Heat.

The confirmation made the rounds and the bare details were released by Real GM:

"The Miami Heat have signed guard Shannon Brown.

Brown signed a one-year contract.

Brown won back-to-back NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.

The Heat's roster now stands at 16."

The contract was later revealed to be pegged at $ 1.3 million dollars, slightly above the veterans minimum. Brown was last seen with the hapless New York Knicks who tried to stage a last minute run to make the playoffs. CBS Sports reports:

"Brown signed with the New York Knicks in late February and spent summer league with them, helping new head coach and ex-Lakers teammate Derek Fisher implement the triangle offense. New York decided to release him afterward, though, and he'll give the Heat some extra depth in the backcourt.

With Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier at point guard, Miami probably doesn't need him to play much at that position. The 28-year-old's best chance to break into the rotation is probably to take some of the backup shooting guard minutes that went to Ray Allen last year. He's obviously nowhere near the shooter that Allen was, but he's a etter defender at this stage of their respective careers."

Brown stuck around hoping to get a roster spot but the Knicks had other plans. For the Miami Heat, which lost out on Barbosa, they wanted to stack up on combo guards because they were planning to have a fast, run and gun offense and they also wanted to limit Dwyane Wade's burn.

With the roster standing at 16, there seems to be no room for Michael Beasley who's still unsigned. Same applies for Ray Allen but he probably ruled out a return following LeBron James' departure.

Do you think this is a good pick-up for the Miami Heat?
