‘Captain America 3’ Spoilers: Steve Rogers Will Die? Winter Soldier To Take The Shield In 'Fallen Son' Story Arc!

The directors of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will continue their task on "Captain America 3." They have gone on several interviews to tease the sequel for the next movie. Have they revealed too much?

Perhaps too much that it would lead one to ask if it's deliberate misdirection. Nevertheless, their statements give us some direction and possible confirmation of a rumor.

The Russo brothers spoke with Collider and had these revealing slips:

"Anthony Russo: You know, to be honest with you, it's just - even though there's sort of a grand plan of things, Kevin Feige also has this awesome attitude of one movie at a time, which I think is very healthy, not to get too far ahead of yourself.  And I think even though we can see in the distant horizon some contracts coming to an end and whatnot, and sort of wondering about what happens, I think the truth is, we're not close enough to it to really be addressing it on a narrative level yet.

Joe Russo: When Bucky takes over the mantle at the end of Cap 3 - [turns to Anthony] did I just ...[LAUGHS] Did I just say that?  I meant to say Falcon. Falcon takes over the mantle at the end of Cap 3.  It's a process that, you know, you have to tell the best story that you can now and the contract issue's not necessarily something that we're worried all that much about."

Of course, in the comic books, there were different versions of the story, and both Bucky/Winter Soldier and Falcon have taken up the shield.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves when even the question of whether The Winter Soldier will find out that he's Bucky. Subsequently, we also don't know how he would react when he does find out.

One more character that did not die in CA:TWS is Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones (although he hasn't assumed that identity yet). He is distinct in The Fallen Son arc as the man who kills Captain America. What can the Russo's say about him:

Joe Russo: "That's a tough one.  I mean, listen, we didn't - he's not alive at the end of Winter Solider for no reason, so let's just say that.  But, you know, strict Marvel policy of nondisclosure."

It has long been rumored that the subtitle for Cap 3 would be Fallen Son-but the only hitch is that Fallen Son was a post "Civil War" story arc. Then again, Marvel always finds a way around that. We'll find out how on May 6, 2016.
