Justice League Dark Is In Screenwriting Phase: Guillermo Del Toro Says He Is Open To Crossover With NBC's 'Constantine' TV Show [PHOTO]

Guillermo Del Toro is a busy man, so busy, in fact, it is hard to keep track of all his projects. Well, don't forget about Justice League Dark, the supernatural Justice League.

"We are deep in the screenplay writing phase," he said. "I think we see eye-to-eye, Warners and DC and myself, on what the movie is. I think it's really, really well served as a movie. Then you can expand it."

Del Toro outlined his team line-up for the film: Demon, Deadman, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Constantine, The Floronic Man. Though there are reportedly plans for The Spectre to show up on the Constantine TV series, Del Toro said he likely wouldn't be in the Justice League Dark movie.

Del Toro said the TV and movie universes are intended to remain separate, which is in line with statements from DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, but went on to add that he was open to casting Constantine's Matt Ryan as the movie version of John Constantine. This would be the first merger of the DC tv and movie universes ( take arrow for example as an example of a completely segregated show)

The team was originally made up of Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Shade, the Changing Man and Zatanna The team is dedicated to dealing with foes that take on a more supernatural and mystical edge - usually out of the scope of the more traditional Justice League.

Del Toro said that he "would love to have The Spectre in it, because he's one of the most... absolutely, beyond moral characters in this universe and he does crazy things... but, I'm happy with... they're doing that with 'Constantine.' What I made clear to them is that the TV series will not effect the movie and they said that's okay. They said you can have independence. Now, if we see the TV series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going, I would be happy to consider that."

He said, "The only thing I made clear to them is that the TV series would not affect the movie. Now, if we see the TV series and we can mesh with it and cast the same actor, depending on where the series is going, I would be happy to do that. As a fan I will watch it and keep an eye on it."

This will no doubt continue to fuel rumors that DC will be connecting their big and small-screen heroes, including the possibility of seeing Stephen Amell (Arrow) or Grant Gustin (the Flash) bringing their characters into the Justice League mov

Check back for more Justice League Dark info as it becomes available. Like he said they are still in the screenwriting phase, so it there should be a lot of juicy tid bits coming out eventually.
