"Evolve" has just won best game at Gamescone 2014 (it did the same thing at E3). After a release date delay from October to February 10 "Left 4 Dead" producers are sitting pretty with what may be one of the best games this year.

It will start out as an Xbox exclusive.

"Evolve" will feature a 4vs 1 formula, where 4 human soldiers controlled by 4 players try to fight one monster controlled by one player. Its essentially a never ending multiplayer boss fight.

The beta starts January 15, 2015 exclusively on Xbox One, Microsoft confirmed today at Gamescom. Microsoft reaffirmed downloadable content will be released first on Xbox One. No beta registration process has been announced.

Kotaku reports that the people behind Evolve were excited by the news, "We are blown away by the positive reception for Evolve from both the critics and the consumers here at Gamescom," said Phil Robb, the game's creative director. "Winning the 'Best of Show' award at both E3 and Gamescom in the same year is humbling and exhilarating."

"It's encouraging to see the level of excitement for Evolve rise constantly," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "The team at Turtle Rock Studios is creating something very special with this new IP that we believe will deliver one of the most unique and engaging next-gen experiences early next year."
