Upcoming LG Phones 2014: The Gx2 Is A Midrange Phablet That Packs 5.7" Screen, Quad-Core CPU, 8MP Shooter, Laser Focus, 1.5GB RAM

The 'other' Korean manufacturer continues its onslaught in the midrange level with one of its upcoming LG phones for 2014.

If you liked the idea of an Android phablet with a much cheaper price tag than the likes of the Galaxy Note 3 or even LG's own flagship, the G3, then you may have already loved the G Vista which was made official in the US almost a month ago.

It appears that the same device will also be hitting Asian markets soon, and should be an added option to the flurry of smartphones which should make way to the same markets in the coming months.

Dubbed as the LG Gx2, the device has identical specs to the G Vista which include a 5.7-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 1.5GB of RAM, and a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz.

At the back is an 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a laser focus sensor that allows the device to capture shots quickly even in low-light conditions. In front is a capable 1.3MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

In the report by GSM Arena, the new LG smartphone measures 152.1 x 79.2 x 9.1mm and weighs 165g, and it has color options of either White or Black.

The Android-powered smartphone runs on the latest version of Kit Kat, as well as LG's homebaked UX, Knock Codes and support for the LG Quick Circle cases.

In case you are looking for a phablet with a huge battery, the LG Gx2 will not disappoint with its 3,200mAh battery. LTE-A connectivity is also on board for high-speed browsing speeds.

In the report, the new LG Gx2 will officially be released to Asian markets on September 18. Following Samsung's lead in the midrange category, can LG make its midrange phablets sell well in a very competitive Asian market?
