Gina Carano Fight News: Ex-Strikeforce Gal May Shift To Bellator As She Plans A Return To The Cage?

Gina Carano fight news: It has been reported that the ex-Strikeforce gal have been in touch with MMA rival Bellator as the news broke that the former fighter and female fitness model is planning a return to the cage. But is it really possible that she may sign with Bellator? The answer: Not likely.

Earlier reports have noted that UFC President Dana White have been in touch with Carano and has since begun negotiations which he described as “complicated,” because of the former fighter’s slew of Hollywood commitments. But reports have also confirmed that Bellator President Scott Cooker has spoken with Carano’s camp.

Bellator is a mixed martial arts promotions company and is considered one of a rival of the UFC.

Though it’s possible that demands are high and UFC would want a fight between current champion Ronda Rousey and the high-profile athlete who has built her name outside of cage, thanks to Hollywood, it seems that Bellator is more of just another option to Carano and UFC being the slightly more definitive choice.

In an interview with MMA hour, Coker confirmed that he has spoken with Carano’s camp, but the Bellator exec didn’t express optimism on the possibility of working with the female MMA fighter.

"We've had one conversation with Brent and Scott and that was it. It was just one quick conversation and there was nothing really made of it. I think that Gina really wants to fight at 135. As far as Cyborg, we haven't talked to her because she is under contract and fighting with Invicta. But if she ever becomes available, then we will have a conversation with her. We don't have a 135 division and I can't say what (Carano) is going to do because she's got film commitments and she is very busy and has a good acting career. It's going to be up to her and her schedule."

The UFC exec, on the other hand, noted in July that talks have been very positive but as earlier mentioned, have been “complicated” because of the former MMA fighter’s growing film career.

The 32-year-old actress and athlete has yet to sign with either Bellator and MMA.
