New Nintendo 3DS Revealed! New Analog Stick To Smash Attack In 'Super Smash Bros. 3DS', North American Release In 2015?

Nintendo fans continue to be impressed as the company announced their newest edition of the Nintendo 3DS this morning in Japan. Simply called ‘New Nintendo 3DS," the handheld gaming system will include a new second analog stick that will aide smash attacks in the upcoming "Super Smash Bros. 3DS." Unfortunately for U.S. fans, the console will only be released in Japan this October. Will North America see the system by 2015?

According to Business Insider, "In Japan this morning, [Nintendo] unveiled the new 3DS models, which include new colored buttons honoring the old SNES console, as well as a new "C-stick" analog pad directly above the face buttons on the right hand side." For those Nintendo fans old enough to remember both the colored buttons on the Super Nintendo and the C-stick on the Gamecube, the new 3DS will definitely bring about feelings of nostalgia.

In regards to that new C-stick: "The new C-stick will be used in ‘Dragon Quest X: Online', ‘Final Fantasy Explorers', and ‘Monster Hunter 4G' to control the in-game camera function, and in the upcoming ‘Super Smash Bros.' for Nintendo 3DS to unleash Smash Attacks," according to Kotaku. Nintendo Executive Satoru Iwata says "it is closer to a button," so it appears that smash attacks will get that much easier.

Other new features of the New Nintendo 3DS include flashier graphics, faster internet speeds, automatic adjusting screen brightness, and a brand new NFC reader that will enable faster reading of Amiibo toys. Overall, it looks like a worthy improvement, definitely made to please hardcore gamers with the increased functionality.

As far as release dates are concerned, both colors of the New Nintendo 3DS will be out October 11th in Japan. Sadly, "Nintendo didn't say anything about plans to bring the console to the U.S. other than that it will not happen in 2014," says Kotaku. Some fans speculate that it wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to not release it by 2015, in the very least to remain competitive with Playstation and Microsoft.

Nevertheless, if you're in Japan, this fall is definitely an exciting season for all things Nintendo.
