New 'Seventh Son' Trailer Unleashed: Jeff Bridges And Julianne Moore Star In Fantasy Epic, Critics Already Disappointed?

The latest fantasy book adaptation "Seventh Son" get its second trailer today after the film was delayed for one more year. "Seventh Son" will star Academy Award winning actor Jeff Bridges and the esteemed Julianne Moore, but some critics have already begun to worry that the film will flop when it's released next year.

Deadline reports: "Universal has unveiled a trailer for the Jeff Bridges fantasy film ‘Seventh Son,' kicking off a five-month marketing challenge for the long-delayed big budget actioner. The YA book-inspired adventure directed by Sergei Bodrov has been teased now for over a year in fits and starts, suffering numerous setbacks since first getting caught in the Rhythm & Hues VFX bankruptcy last year."

"Seventh Son" has been caught up in delays for about a year now, but this trailer signifies it will more than likely make it's newest release date for February of next year. First Showing explains the premise of the film as: "When Thomas (Ben Barnes), seventh son of a seventh son, is apprenticed to the local Spook (Jeff Bridges), whose job is to fight evil spirits and witches, he expects a life of danger. However, the boy doesn't realize just how soon he'll face a powerful enemy alone, as Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) escapes her confinement while the Spook is away. Thomas is forced to use his wits, and the help of his enigmatic new friend, Alice (Alica Vikander), to fight the evil witch."

Screenrant however forecasts that based on this trailer, film fans perhaps shouldn't expect much: "A second theatrical trailer for Seventh Son has dropped at last; it contains a healthy amount of new footage that's heavy on CGI supernatural beasts, but doesn't exactly do much to distinguish this movie's hero's journey storyline from countless ones that've come before." They go on to say that the marriage of modern blockbuster elements and 80s good vs evil storylines could either be a hit or a miss.

As buzz continues to generate for "Seventh Son" let's hope that no studio drama delays the film any longer. "Seventh Son" will hit theaters February 6th, 2015.
